SUMMER ACADEMIC PROGRAM FOR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS
June 30 - August 1, 2008

Dr. Marilyn Joshua

Dear Parents:

I am most delighted to welcome your family to participate in the Twenty Sixth Annual Summer Academic Program for Elementary School Students (SAPESS) at California State University, Northridge. The goal of this unique five-week program is to create a learning environment that is both rigorous and fun for your children! I have identified and hired experienced highly qualified credentialed teachers to work with your children. Each teacher is assisted by a teacher’s aide – which helps us maintain a low student-teacher ratio in each class. I have identified five (5) items that will assist you and facilitate the program run smoothly:

  1. Arrive on Time. Please arrive and sign your child in before 8:15. This will help you avoid standing in long lines to obtain a tardy pass.
  2. Parking Passes. Parking passes are now available for purchase ($2.50 each) from the Public Safety Department. 9222 Darby Ave. Please purchase your pass prior to the start of the program.
  3. SAPESS Office. As of June 26, Sierra Hall 120 will serve as our office. If you have any questions, please contact us Monday-Friday between 9:00am-11:00am.
  4. Forms. Please return all forms (ex: medical and pick-up) prior to the start of the program.
  5. Log-in Account. Check the status of your account and make sure your child has four classes.

The SAPESS faculty and staff look forward to providing an exciting and enriching summer. I am confident that your child will find this learning experience rewarding and meaningful. I hope that you will return to be a part of the SAPESS family for many summers to come.

Sincerely,

Marilyn Joshua-S
