2-3 We love the Ocean & Earth (Oceanography)
(Grades 2-3) Join us and learn about this interesting planet we live on! Through literature, crafts, experiments and other hands-on activities we will explore mysteries of this planet we call home. Fishes, tide pools, dolphins, sea stars, and squid are but a few of the interesting creatures to be studied in this exciting exploration of the ocean. Art, poetry, and other creative expressions will enhance the program. There will be a culminating on-campus fieldtrip to the CSUN Marine Lab.

2-3: Out of This World! (Astronomy)
(Grade 2-3) Explore the awe inspiring universe in which we live. Students will learn about the solar system, the Milky Way Galaxy and our place in the universe. We start by learning about our closest star – the sun. Then each student will choose a planet to study in depth. We’ll make simple models of the solar system including a paper mache model of their chosen planet. We’ll spend some time in the Oort Cloud (near Pluto) learning about comets. In fact, we’ll even make a comet on earth! Come join us as we go on a trip across the universe discovering new and exciting facts about life, the planets and the stars. Extra $10 in Lab/Material Fees

3-5 Exciting World of Chemistry
(Grade 3-5) Come join us as we make chemistry an engaging and hands-on experience! You will discover how to make a volcano explode, how to use fruit to turn on a light bulb, and even how to make candy grow! We will use the basic principles of chemistry to predict, implement, and analyze the outcomes of our investigations. You can take part in these experiments and more to discover the answers to the world’s most fascinating scientific mysteries.

3-5 Recipes for Science
(Grades 3-5) Join us as Chemistry, Geology, Biology, and Math come alive when students apply concepts learned in class to create many edible projects. This is an interactive and hands-on class where students will practice the scientific method while learning about rocks, plate tectonics, and the basics of chemistry. Students will make gross body projects, combine different elements to make unique objects, and discover the science behind many of their favorite foods. 3-6: Balance and Motion (Physics)
(Grades 3-6) Have you ever been to the circus and seen the tightrope walker on the high wire? How do they balance on that thin wire? Have you wondered how the trapeze artists fly through the air? Things are MOVING around us all the time but do you know what makes them go? We’ll explore the world of balance and movement. We’ll design and build lots of toys and explore the forces that keep them in balance or set them in motion. We’ll balance pencils on their tips and cups of waters on a tightrope. We’ll build tops, zoomers, twirlers, airplanes and cars. We finish this class with a rollercoaster building project and then set it in motion! This is an action packed, non-stop building class. Inventors and builders wanted! Extra $10 in Lab/Material Fees
